Since 1986 our fire company has made changes to our apparatus and equipment. There has been advances in firefighting techniques and technology. We have come into the computer age. In recent years there been changes in the way fires are fought and fireman respond to alarms. In addition to the fire siren sounding to alert firefighters of alarms, a pager system alerts firefighters of location and type of alarm . Firefighters no longer hang off the backs of apparatus, new apparatus now have cabs were firefighters prepare themselves . Each firefighter is assigned their own turnout gear Thermal and gas sensors are now standard equipment on all apparatus in addition to other life saving devices. Firefighting has come a long way since the early days.
In 1996 additions and alterations were done to fireheadquaters to accomodate new and larger apparatus, a radio room and changes to the interior of the building to make it more comfortable for firefighters in their leisure time.To accomodate our Handicap Citizens a handicap ramp and bathroom was installed.
